# Run an Automation Action

Triggers a configured PagerDuty Automation Action, such as a remote runbook script, directly from within an incident workflow.

## Description

Run a [PagerDuty Automation Action](/ai-automation/automation/automation-actions).

> **License Requirement:** A **PD Automation Actions** user license is required for the following:
>
> - Create a workflow that includes an Automation Action.
> - [_Manually_ run a workflow](/ai-automation/automation/incident-workflows#manually-run-an-incident-workflow) that includes an Automation Action.
>
> Please read [Flexible Licensing](/account-admin/billing#flexible-licensing) for more information about assigning users a specific license type.

## Instructions

1. If you have not done so, follow the instructions to [Create an Incident Workflow](/ai-automation/automation/incident-workflows#create-an-incident-workflow).
2. When the instructions prompt you to [add actions](/ai-automation/automation/incident-workflows#add-actions), select **this action**.
3. Enter the following **Inputs** and click **Save**.
4. Continue following instructions to **Publish** the Workflow.
5. When the action runs, you will see the **Outputs** listed below.
