# Get Notes for an Incident

Retrieves every note logged on an incident, plus the full details of the single most recent note added for quick reference.

## Description

Retrieve all notes associated with an incident, as well as details for the most recent note on that incident.

## Instructions

1. If you have not done so, follow the instructions to [Create an Incident Workflow](/ai-automation/automation/incident-workflows#create-an-incident-workflow).
2. When the instructions prompt you to [add actions](/ai-automation/automation/incident-workflows#add-actions), select **this action**.
3. Enter the following **Inputs** and click **Save**.
4. Continue following instructions to **Publish** the Workflow.
5. When the action runs, you will see the **Outputs** listed below.

## Inputs

To add Field References, click **\{+\}**, or enter `{{`, and select relevant fields. | Incident ID | Incident ID to get notes for. Defaults to `{{incident.id}}`. |

## Outputs

| Number of Notes              | The number of notes associated with the incident.                                   |
| List of Notes                | The JSON array of notes associated with the incident.                               |
| Most Recent Note ID          | The ID of the most recent note on the incident.                                     |
| Most Recent Note Time        | The datetime of the most recent note on the incident.                               |
| Most Recent Note Content     | The content of the most recent note on the incident.                                |
| Most Recent Note Author ID   | The ID of the user who authored the most recent note on the incident.               |
| Most Recent Note Author Name | The name of the user who authored the most recent note on the incident.             |
| Result                       | Value that shows if the action was successful or not. Either "Success" or "Failed." |
| Result Summary               | Brief description of what the action did or if it failed.                           |
| Error                        | Brief description that populates if the action failed.                              |
