# Create a Dedicated Chat in Microsoft Teams

Starts a dedicated Microsoft Teams chat for an incident with a live-updating notification card and incident action buttons.

## Description

Add a [Microsoft Teams](/integrations/microsoft-teams) dedicated chat to an incident with custom event selection. The chat will include an incident notification card with real-time updates and incident action buttons. This action will also automatically add [connected incident responders](/integrations/microsoft-teams/microsoft-teams-user-guide#who-is-automatically-added-when-pagerduty-creates-a-teams-meeting-or-chat) to the chat.

### Event Selection Options

- **Highlights only**: Receives notifications for key incident milestones and important changes in PagerDuty, including when incidents are resolved, reopened, or have priority/status updates.
- **Status updates only:** Receives notifications only when incidents are resolved or when status updates are published in PagerDuty.
- **All updates: **Receives notifications for all incident activity in PagerDuty, including assignments, escalations, acknowledgments, responder actions, workflow changes, and task updates.
- **No updates:** No follow-up notifications are sent after the chat is created.

## Instructions

1. If you have not done so, follow the instructions to [Create an Incident Workflow](/ai-automation/automation/incident-workflows#create-an-incident-workflow).
2. When the instructions prompt you to [add actions](/ai-automation/automation/incident-workflows#add-actions), select **this action**.
3. Enter the following **Inputs** and click **Save**.
4. Continue following instructions to **Publish** the Workflow.
5. When the action runs, you will see the **Outputs** listed below.

## Inputs

To add Field References, click **\{+\}**, or enter `{{`, and select relevant fields. | Microsoft Teams Organization | Select the name of the Microsoft Teams Organization the meeting is in.                                                                                                                                        |
| Chat Name                    | Enter your preferred chat name. If you do not enter a meeting name, it will default to `incident_{incident-number}`.                                                                                          |
| User                         | The owner of the chat. If not provided, the owner will be determined by the current rules described in [Incident Workflows](/ai-automation/automation/incident-workflows#conditional-triggers). |
| Event Selection              | The webhook events for this chat. See [Event Selection Options](#event-selection-options).                                                                                                                    |

## Outputs

| Name           | Description                                                                         |
| :------------- | :---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Chat URL       | The URL for the MS Teams chat. This will be a direct link to the MS Teams chat.     |
| Result         | Value that shows if the action was successful or not. Either "Success" or "Failed." |
| Result Summary | Brief description of what the action did or if it failed.                           |
| Error          | Brief description that is populated if the action failed.                           |
