# Linear: Update Issue - Project

Moves an existing Linear issue into a different project based on incident conditions or workflow triggers you configure.

## Description

Update the project associated with an existing issue in Linear from a PagerDuty Incident Workflow. This action helps teams organize incident-related engineering work by automatically moving Linear issues into the correct project based on workflow triggers or incident conditions.

## Instructions

1. If you have not done so, follow the instructions to [Create an Incident Workflow](/ai-automation/automation/incident-workflows#create-an-incident-workflow).
2. When the instructions prompt you to [add actions](/ai-automation/automation/incident-workflows#add-actions), select **this action**.
3. Enter the following **Inputs** and click **Save**.
4. Continue following instructions to **Publish** the Workflow.
5. When the action runs, you will see the **Outputs** listed below.

## Inputs

> **Field References:** Fields with the **\{+\}** icon accept [Field References](/ai-automation/automation/incident-workflows#field-references), which can be useful for referencing incident data or outputs created in prior workflow steps. To add Field References, click **\{+\}**, or enter `{{`, and select relevant fields. Refer to the [Field References](/ai-automation/automation/incident-workflows#field-references) article for more information.

| Name         | Description                                                                                                                         |
| :----------- | :---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Issue ID** | The unique identifier of the Linear issue to update. Example: `ENG-123` or a UUID.                                                  |
| **Project**  | The name or unique identifier of the Linear project to associate with the issue. Example: `Incident Response Q2` or a project UUID. |

> **Note:** The project must exist in your Linear workspace and be accessible to the connected integration account. Projects are scoped to a team, so ensure the issue and project belong to the same Linear team.

## Outputs

| **Issue ID**  | The unique identifier of the updated Linear issue.                                           |
| **Issue URL** | A direct link to the updated issue in Linear. Use this in notifications or subsequent steps. |
