# Linear: Update Issue - Content

Rewrites the title and description text of an existing Linear issue so it reflects the incident's current state and context.

## Description

Update the title and description of an existing issue in Linear from within a PagerDuty Incident Workflow. This action allows teams to keep Linear issue content synchronized with the current state of an incident, adding relevant context as it becomes available during response.

## Instructions

1. If you have not done so, follow the instructions to [Create an Incident Workflow](/ai-automation/automation/incident-workflows#create-an-incident-workflow).
2. When the instructions prompt you to [add actions](/ai-automation/automation/incident-workflows#add-actions), select **this action**.
3. Enter the following **Inputs** and click **Save**.
4. Continue following instructions to **Publish** the Workflow.
5. When the action runs, you will see the **Outputs** listed below.

## Inputs

To add Field References, click **\{+\}**, or enter `{{`, and select relevant fields. | :--------------------------- | :------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Issue ID**                 | The unique identifier of the Linear issue to update. Example: `ENG-123` or a UUID.                                         |
| **Title** _(Optional)_       | The new title for the Linear issue. If left blank, the existing title is preserved.                                        |
| **Description** _(Optional)_ | The updated description for the issue. Supports Markdown formatting. If left blank, the existing description is preserved. |

## Outputs

| **Issue ID**  | The unique identifier of the updated Linear issue.                                           |
| **Issue URL** | A direct link to the updated issue in Linear. Use this in notifications or subsequent steps. |
