# Delete an Event Rule

`DELETE https://api.pagerduty.com/rulesets/{id}/rules/{rule_id}`

Delete an Event Rule.

Rulesets allow you to route events to an endpoint and create collections of Event Rules, which define sets of actions to take based on event content.

Scoped OAuth requires: `event_rules.write`

## Authorization

- **api_key** (apiKey) — `Authorization` header. The API Key with format `Token token=<API_KEY>`

## Path parameters

The Event Rule was deleted successfully.

## Response 400

Caller provided invalid arguments. Please review the response for error details. Retrying with the same arguments will *not* work.
